Sone was born in Hounslow, London and brought up in Birmingham. It was always Sone’s dream to become a footballer and at the age of 8, Aluko joined the Birmingham youth team. He made his first-team squad member debut in the 2005-6 Premier League season and in August 2007 made his first appearance.
In August 2007 Scottish club Aberdeen picked Aluko up on a 5-month deal where he made his debut in October. Sone played a key role in the 2-0 victory over Dundee, scoring his first goal for the club. The impressive nature of his performances resulted in an extension to his loan until the end of the season. He later returned to Aberdeen on a permanent signing in September 2008, where his impressive form earnt him the SPL Young Player of the Month award in November 2008.
Aluko was offered a trial with Scottish giants Rangers and instantly impressed. He was later offered a contract and signed on the 24th November 2011. Sone scored the opening goal in Rangers’ 3-2 victory over fierce rivals Celtic and scored his first hat trick for the club in a 4-0 victory over St Johnstone in the last game of the season.
In July 2012 Aluko confirmed a two-year deal with Hull City where he made his debut against Brighton and Hove Albion in August. He scored his first goal against Bolton Wanderers in the September. 2 goals in November against his former club, Birmingham and a total of 8 games in the season earned Sone increasing recognition for his gift. In the 2013-14 season Aluko scored his first goal of the season in the 76th minute against rivals Newcastle. His goal was described as a ‘stunning volley’ and resulted in a glorious 3-2 victory.
On the 8th July 2016, Sone joined Championship side Fulham on a free transfer for a minimum of two years. Sone scored his first goal for the club in August 2016 with a 2-1 victory over Preston North End.
